Distance pupillaire

Pupillary distance (PD) is crucial for properly centring the lenses in your eyeglasses. Accurate centration ensures that you are looking through the most optically correct part of the lenses, improving the clarity of your vision and reducing eye strain.

It represents the distance between the centers of your pupils, usually measured in millimeters. You can measure either the single pupillary distance or 2 separate measurements right and left.

How to do it:

Unlike your lens correction, your pupillary distance does not change after the age of 16, so you can reuse it if you know it:

- If you have glasses made at an optician after 01/01/2020, this measurement will be indicated on the invoice (eg: P OD gap: 31 mm, P OG gap: 32 mm)

- Measure your pupillary distance

How to measure:

1. Ask someone to take your picture

2. Take a photo of your face, strictly from the front, eyes wide open, with the camera at face height and at a distance of about 40 cm. Hold a ruler or measuring instrument, placing it just below the nose or above the eyes.

3. Measure the distance between your two pupils on the photo. Note the measurement in millimeters.
